Certificate Series : Medical Office Assistant Diploma (Fall 2025)

Description: MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT DIPLOMA PROGRAM
At present there is a tremendous increase in demand for Health Care Professionals throughout British Columbia as skilled workers in this sector are retiring. This program teaches students the knowledge and skills required in the areas of anatomy, medical terminology, pharmacology, and, medical front office procedures, such as billing functions which are required to be successful in an entry level position as a MOA. Work in medical offices (Physician’s offices, private clinics, hospital departments, etc.) supporting Doctors with administrative tasks such as booking and confirming patient appointments, performing billing procedures, medical transcription and clerical duties, maintaining confidentiality, etc.
Prerequisites:
                Grade 12 or related experience & training
                Basic knowledge of MS Windows
                Basic keyboarding
                Grade 10 English, Foundations English 7 or equivalent
Course Requirements:
                90% attendance
                70% grade average
                Successfully complete MOA Diploma courses & requirements
Provide proof of immunizations & a negative TB test prior to practicum as required by practicum sites
                Acquire mandatory seasonal flu shot
                Complete a current Criminal Record Check as required by employers
3 week full time practicum during business hours
Basic supplies will be the student’s responsibility. (Binders, tabs, pens, pencils, USB drive etc.)

Description: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT & COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING DIPLOMA PROGRAM (AA/CA)
This double diploma program equips students with both the core Administrative Assistant & Computerized Accounting courses needed to excel and work in any industry.  Students will learn computer and office administration skills, business communications, keyboarding and accounting software.
Prerequisites:
                Grade 12 or related experience & training
                Basic knowledge of computers
                Basic keyboarding
                Grade 10 English or Foundations English 7 or equivalent.              
Course Requirements:
                90% attendance
                70% grade average
                Successfully complete both Administrative Assistant & Computerized Accounting Diploma courses & requirements
                Complete a current Criminal Record Check as required by practicum hosts
Basic supplies will be the student’s responsibility. (Binders, tabs, pens, pencils, USB drive etc.)
